Recently purchased the car, and just discovered a small metal toggle switch directly below the steering wheel, under the dash. Thinking this is probably not a feature of the car but was wired in by a previous owner? The person I bought the car from only had it for a short while, and was kind of clueless, so it must have been an earlier owner. Any one seen anything similar? Or have any idea what it might be for? Its a small metal switch - like this... - not mounted to anything;

what might this be for?

Probably a cheap security system (ignition disable).
