007 MKX  i have a clear oily fluid leaking from under the heat shield located under the car just behind the engine compartment.  i removed the heat shield to find a white colored "vent" hole leaking this fluid.  I cant imagine what is there as just above this is in the car is the center console.  it is a clear fluid so it is not transmission fluid or oil.  any idea what it is and where it is actually coming from?  is something over field?  is something failing?

thank you

Are you sure it's not water from the A/C?

after some more research it appears that this is the location for the heater A/C vent, but the fluid is oily to the touch.  is this where condensation from the A/C normally drips from?

There's oil in the a/c refrigerant. I can't think of a single situation where the condensate would contain oil unless the a/c refrigerant is leaking inside the housing. (In all honesty, there may be a possibility that some one sprayed some ingredient that contained an oily residue in one of the vents; for some reason).

As air conditioners leak fluid slowly under normal conditions (seals dry out and shrink with age), probably would hurt to have a set of gauges put on and tested.

Maybe gunk buildup in the evaporator?   Doesn't seem like that would be oily though.
